William “Bill” Richard Blanchard

William (Bill) Blanchard lost his battle with cancer on October 1, 2014 in Hot Springs Village, AR. He was born March 11, 1945 Bill, and adopted by his loving parents, James and Irene Blanchard. He graduated from Royal Oak Dondero High School in 1963 and entered the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Bill then earned his degree at Wayne State University and his Master’s degree at University of Detroit.

Bill worked for Michigan Department of Corrections where he established and supervised half way houses in the Detroit Metropolitan area; he retired from the US Probation Department thru the US Courts March 2002. Bill and his wife moved to HSV in 2005. Bill was an avid golfer, and loved all sports. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Pat (Fehily) Blanchard, a step-son, John Reinhardt (Paula Lopes), Sister-in-law, Cathy (Chuck) Goodell, Lynn (Tim) Tarpening, Jan Fehily, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Memorial Service for Bill will be at Village Church of Christ on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to Cancer Research of your choice or St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Center.
